There is a lot involved in installing a wood floor the right way. Below is a brief outline of the key steps involved in our hardwood floor installation process.
Preparation
is key
Before installation begins, we take the time to properly prepare the space to ensure a smooth and efficient installation. We inspect the subfloor, check for level and moisture, and make adjustments if needed for a solid foundation.
We also acclimate the wood to your home’s environment, protect surrounding areas, and carefully plan the layout to ensure proper alignment, flow, and balance throughout the space.
Moisture Control
Before the installation starts, we check the moisture conditions to protect your hardwood floors from future issues like cupping, gaps, or movement.
Depending on the type and width of the flooring, we apply the appropriate vapor protection. This may include moisture-blocking sealers applied directly to the subfloor, or vapor barrier papers installed under the wood.
Each installation is different, so we choose the system that best fits your floor and environment.
Layout and board placement
Before nailing down boards, we plan the layout of the floor. This includes establishing straight reference lines, and determining the best direction for the planks to create a balanced and natural flow.
Proper layout helps avoid awkward cuts, short end joints, and uneven patterns, ensuring a clean and professional look.
Precision installation
Once the layout is set, we begin installing the hardwood using the appropriate method for the flooring type and subfloor. This may include nail-down, glue-down, or floating systems.

Finishing details and transitions
After installation is complete, we focus on the finishing touches. This includes installing trims, saddles, and transitions, as well as inspecting the entire floor overall quality.
