Choosing the perfect wood floor color for your home.

Check out some of options and suggestions to transform your home.

What you should keep in mind while choosing the right color.

Color options for wood floors have never been so diverse. You can choose from raw tones to rich black hues, each bringing unique positives to your space.

Here’s a quick guide to help you decide:

Light tones
It can make a room feel larger and more open, making it perfect for smaller spaces or rooms with limited natural light. They offer a fresh contemporary look that complements minimalist design styles. They also tend to hide dust and pet hair better, making it appear cleaner for longer periods of time.

Medium tones
It is very versatile and blends well with basically every design style. From traditional to modern. They add a warmth and welcoming feeling to your space, while hiding dust and dirt better than dark floors.

Dark tones
It can create a bold statement, adding a sense of luxury and sophistication to any room. And create a beautiful contrast against light-colored walls and furniture, creating an appealing aesthetic.

Each floor color has its own unique benefits, so consider your space, style, and maintenance preferences to find the perfect fit for your home.

How to add color on your wood floors?

There are two main ways to add color to your floors. The more traditional way is to stain your floors. That way you can protect it and finish it with oil-based polyurethane, or water-based finishes.

Another option is to use water-based sealers that have pigments on it. Doing so, you need to have your floors finished with a water-based finish on top. The sealers are more for a specialty finish, like a whitewashed or RAW look.

Still couldn't find the stain that you're looking for?

Over all the years, we have noticed some colors are more popular among our customers, being Provincial, Special Walnut, Dark Walnut, and Jacobean the more common ones.

You can also intermix some colors, but keep in mind that custom mixes are not always recommended, because it’s harder to have the floors repaired in the future, and keep in your records what the recipe was used for your floors.

Bona Sealers

The advantage of sealers is to create a unique “natural” tone and build a layer to prevent the finish from penetrating into the wood. With five different options to choose from, you can have different depths, going from a whitewashed, raw or even an oil-based look with those options.

NordicSeal

It creates a whitewashed look. Works better with 2 coats of sealer.

NaturalSeal

It maintains the look of the raw (unfinished) wood.

ClassicSeal

Highlights the natural tone of the wood, it’s the regular “Natural Water-based” look.

IntenseSeal

It creates a vibrant and deep appearance for some wood species. It can also be used on top of a stain to make it more vivid.

AmberSeal

Non-yellowing sealer that provides an oil-based look. Works better with 2 coats and can be used on top of a stain.
